Private
Name Hattori Kihashi (Ki for short, not many Shinigami other than Taicho know his full name. Order is last name, first name)
Gender Male
Age Appears in his early twenties. He's 141.
Birthdate June 6th
Hair His hair is about medium length and very shaggy and unkempt looking, being a dark blonde in color.
Eye His eyes, when he actually has his shades off, are a dull gold color.
Height 6'0
Weight 201 Pounds. Most of his build is made up of muscle; he is very much athletically built with a little extra muscle where it appeals and is needed, and he's happy to show it off.
Description
Underneath his captain's outfit, he does wear the uniform of the head of the Omnitsukido, or Secret Tactics Force. It is no secret the leader of the Nibantai is also the Head of the Omnitsukido. However, unlike previous users of the outfit, his variant is shirtless. He dubbed the older variants too womanly, as they looked like the top of a dress since the shoulders and back were exposed. This also exposes his upper body muscle past his captain's outfit. When using Shunko, he will remove his captain's outfit to keep it from being ripped apart from the intense spiritual pressure.

Personality
It would be correct for some to assume Kihashi is a no nonsense kind of man. He believes in dedication, training, hard work, and commitment. He lives for combat, ensuring the safety of Seireitei at the front of division two, always watching his men like a hawk and making sure they're appropriately trained for their unique role in protecting Seireitei from behind the scenes. He may seem like a stern leader with no care for failures, but in reality, he thinks of division two like family, even the unranked members. He believes there is no such thing as a failure, and has often tutored his own division members to bring them up to par.
As for the death of Soifon, Kihashi took it personally hard. He idolized her, and as such, swore a vile vengeance against Espada in particular. He can still keep it under wraps when around subordinates or his superiors, but it's no secret he's highly biased against hollows of all walks of life. While he may seem stern, however, he's also a great friend and drinking buddy to those he knows personally. He can be kind, although he tends to be a man of few words unless he's barking orders. He can be violent, but being the taicho of the special forces has warranted him a unique kind of patience and clarity when in battle or even in every day life. He is quick, tactical, and merciless.
He is a very different man than from when he is around his squad. Around his squad he shows himself as a stern leader so nobody backtalks or causes problems, as they would think him lenient. He's a very ''work life and home life are different'' sort of man. Away from his squad or around his friends, he's been known to actually have a very bright and goofy sense of humor. He loves rock music of all kinds, almost having an obsession with it. He is also known to be a raging pervert with a personal penchant for hanging around the Division Four headquarters to stalk the Taicho. He's not ashamed of his perversion as it applies to women of all races, sometimes even Arrancar, but his hate of hollows often gets in the way of the perversion taking place, or sometimes even mixes in with it (I.E: It's a shame i'm gonna have to cut up that pretty face). He's been known to be quite the silver tongued rogue when not around his squad, chatting up any woman with free time. He can also be a bit of a jokester which is a bit odd for a man that heads the Special Forces and 2nd Division.
He is slowly beginning to meld his two lives into one; slowly, very slowly, but surely.

Historical
Background
Kihashi was born to a middle class family in Karakura Town. His father was an electrician at a local steel mill, and his mother was a stay at home mother. They had a surprisingly well-clicked relationship, as he'd gotten along with both of his parents very nicely. He grew up a happy child, and couldn't wait to get into school. He bugged his parents constantly about starting early since he was an only child and didn't have many friends to play with, if any at all, as he was a bit sheltered growing up. Eventually, the day he dreamt of would come, and he would be placed into school. Excited, he quickly made a lot of friends, and unlike most kids his age, loved going to school and learning. It was his dream to be an electrician just like his father, so he was interested in math most of all.
Throughout school, he kept very good grades, never failing to impress his teachers and his family. He grew up with many friends, losing them gradually as he moved through his years of school, until he finally hit high school. He was a bit popular during high school; he was an athlete and had the figure to match, but he never really took the time to get a girlfriend. His junior year, however, a girl from another school transferred in. She was different in his eyes, and he immediately began talking to her. They formed a strong friendship within days, and within weeks, they began dating. He loved her very much and their relationship lasted all through high school and college, even after Kihashi had gotten a job at his father's steel mill (his father now owned it). They eventually married and had one child, the couple producing one son.
However, fate has a way of laughing at the fortunate here and there, and it would come to pass that disaster struck. One day, on his way home from the mill, he saw a rescue vehicle head in the direction of his house. On a live news cast on a TV store, he saw his house battered and destroyed, as if attacked by some savage beast. He stomped on the gas and made his way home, but his wife, carrying a second unborn child, had already passed on. He went into a fierce depression to the point where he thought he was hallucinating shadowy creatures with white masks stalking around his new home, but the truth was he wasn't hallucinating at all; he was seeing hollows. Eventually he'd drank so severely he'd poisoned his body and suffocated on his back, dying in his sleep.
When he awoke, he was chained by his chest to the ground where his old home once stood. Hollows prowled the area around his grave, waiting for him to get weak to devour him. He slowly began going crazy as he saw them, and just as one closed in a few hours after he awoke, he saw it split in two by a strange robed figure. Before he could thank them, he passed out again as the hilt of the sword was pressed against his forehead. All went black, and he thought he had finally died, ready to pass on to the afterlife. As it turns out, he was right. He woke up in a house in Rukongai, being catered to by a woman that looked a lot like his wife, almost an uncanny resemblance even. She even had a son, a little boy that seemed all too familiar.
He was constantly visited by the Shinigami that saved his life, and fate would strike again just a few months after he woke up. His district of Rukongai would be raided by several high-class hollows, and the Shinigami that had saved his life had come to the rescue. The woman he lived with had been injured while hiding in her home, and Kihashi had been tossed an academy zanpakuto to fight with. He managed to live through the fight, while the Shinigami barely did as well. He made his way, battered and injured, back to his home, only to find the woman near death. Immediately having a flashback, he burst into tears and ran to her side. He told the woman he loved her, and all she had to reply was ''I remember'' with a smile and a nod before passing on. The boy was nowhere to be found, but reports informed him that all that was found of him was torn pieces of his clothing; he'd almost definitely been devoured by hollows.
He accompanied the Shinigami to Seireitei, whom immediately had him placed into the academy. In the academy, he took a small amount of interest in kido, but a gigantic interest in footwork, swordplay, and bare-handed fighting. He would wind up switching his main focus to hand to hand fighting and speed, almost entirely abandoning zanjutsu. He became a renowned student in all three, having no real friends to distract him from focusing on his skills. He grew quickly and graduated from the academy with flying colors, finally making a few friends after his graduation. He was placed into the 2nd Division as an unseated at first, but tried his best to make himself stand out to his captain. He was always a bit weirded out by the vice captain, but he quickly grew on him as well. He went through excruciating training, as Soi Fon wanted to see just how much he could take before he broke under the pressure, but somehow he always managed to come out of his training with his head held high. The two years of extra training required by all division members after the academy proved to be a breeze to him in comparison to Soi Fon's training.
He would often request to go and complete tasks with the seated members, striving to prove his worth, and due to his unnatural reiatsu he was often accepted for the job. Ever since the academy he had posessed an uncanny amount and it was wild and erratic, never exactly being able to be controlled. This made him a tool of destruction and a savior all in one, and most of his training focused not only on what he was focusing on, but how to focus that reiatsu and keep it under wraps. His zanpakuto managed to revert from a constant-released type to a sealed type, marking his progress. He eventually made it to a seated rank, but even that wasn't enough for him. The seats under him were all taken, so he was stuck where he was for the time being. Now that he had outranked and outclassed the majority of his division, he also upped his training regiment.
He refused to train with anyone but seated shinigami or even the captain herself. He fought lower-seat shinigami in multiples of two or three at once, rarely ever losing. He underwent a specific training regiment conducted by Soi Fon herself to keep climbing and climbing, and eventually, he even matched the Lieutenant in power. All that had to be done now was achieve bankai and spar with Soi Fon at least once to see if he was worthy of taking the mantle of captain some day. His bankai training begun immediately, and it became the forefront of his training regiment. When he wasn't on a mission, he was speaking and connecting with his zanpakuto. He eventually achieved harmony with his zanpakuto after a few decades of time, and all he needed to do was master the bankai. He spent another thirty years just plain mastering the bankai after he unlocked it, making sure to do so in private so he could keep it a secret.
These days, he spends most of his time with official captain work or enjoying sake with his subordinates when he's not training. Even at captain level he continues to train, and he also continues to train his division to adequately combat hollows, arrancar, and Espada alike.

Zanpakutō
Zanpakutō Spirit
Name Mugetsu (Moonless Night)
Element Kinetic/Resonant (Vibrational) Energy
Appearance
Mugetsu's sealed form actually takes the form of a wakizashi of average length, kept sheathed across his lower back to better allow freedom for his hakuda attacks. The weapon's guard is shaped like a claw grasping at a disappearing moon-like design on the bottom of the blade. The weapon also has two chains coming from the pommel, with a half-moon shaped piece of metal at the end. The chains are light, but they are also very durable and make up the grip of the sword. When fully unraveled, either one or both, they can be used to entangle an enemy's weapon or bind them up and kill them with ease.
Shikai Release
''Heigou Oite Kage, Mugetsu. (Merge In Shadow, Mugetsu)''
Basically, imagine that gauntlet but as a pair, with the metal being full black in color.
The shikai takes the form of a pair of gauntlets with an insignia on the back of the hand. They reach about halfway up Kihashi's arm, allowing him to use them for defense in blocking attacks from weaponry. Three short spikes extend from the knuckles, allowing the extreme force of Kihashi's punches to be supplemented with spikes that can punch holes straight into the opponent should he simply draw his fist back. The sleeve of the gauntlet is covered in notched ridges, allowing them to catch blades and toss them aside while the other arm delivers a strong blow to the opponent in a counter attack.
Shikai Techniques
*It is important to note that his powers are physics based, not energy based. The significance of this gives him a benefit, but also a drawback all at the same time. Abilities that effect spiritual energy, reiatsu, or energy itself will not affect his powers since they are delved from physics and not created energy. The drawback is that if his attacks are too powerful, they can harm his own body as well.
Getsuei Ensei Sensu (Moon's Murmur Style)
This ability refers to Kihashi's ability as a whole to manipulate the vibrations of resonant energy by amplifying it and directing it with his zanpakuto. This ability grants him a decently wide range of possibilities. Offensively, it is much deadlier than it sounds. Kihashi has the ability to project resonant energy from his strikes into the opponent's body, directly attacking their skeletal system. While at first this may not seem practical, imagine a vibration so strong that it actually uses your bones as a tuning fork, working its way into the hollow of your bone then shaking it violently, pounding away at it from the inside out. This energy can be projected from any part of his body, but it is much easier to project with his striking limbs. He can focus this energy so finely and to so much of a focused point that the energy could shatter a part of the skeletal structure instantly. (Of course, bone-shattering strikes will typically only be used in death enabled threads.)
The final thing this ability allows him to do in condense shots of resonant energy, much like a hollow or arrancar's Bala, and harden it with reiatsu to accelerate the speed and compact it. Once it slams into the opponent, it will fiercely vibrate any part of their body it strikes, often numbing that limb or part of the body. If it hits the upper torso, the most common effect is rocking the air right out of an opponent's lungs by causing their lungs to spasm, releasing air from the throat out of the nose and mouth very rapidly. This easily winds the opponent, decreasing their fighting ability for a few moments, and can sometimes even instill panic.
Defensively, he can absorb incoming vibrations and disperse into them with resonant energy manipulated and amplified by his zanpakuto. This disallows the blows that land on his body to resonate within his body, basically absorbing the kinetic force of the attack. This will of course reduce the damage of a blow substantially, but it doesn't make him immune. Superficial damage, such as tissue wounds from a sword or blade, will still affect him; this more protects against blunt trauma from the force of an attack than the attack itself. Such as with a Cero, the Cero itself would still do its damage, only it wouldn't blow him backward or any such thing. This typically does not apply to energy attacks or attacks from a blade.
Haretsu Chouseki (Rupturing Tide)
An ability that refers to the theory of the moon controlling the tides of everything beneath it. This ability allows Kihashi to well up resonant energy to a central point, most often his fist when on the ground. Then, he will release the energy through a strike or by simply letting it explode outward from the area around his body, accelerated in speed by a burst of spiritual pressure. Every enemy surrounding him or in a close area around him will have their skeletal system wracked by an intense vibration; it is non-lethal and cannot break bones, but it sends their skeletal system in one big series of spasms for a few seconds. This of course slows them down and can even immobilize an enemy; the skeletal system is moving involuntarily by the vibration, which already causes pain by itself, but trying to force it to move two ways at once (the person's commanding of that body part to move, combined with the movement result of the spasm) could potentially cause a more foolish opponent to harm themselves.
Kihashi can take advantage of the few seconds after this attack to use his extreme expertise in Shunpo and Hoho to blitz through the disabled or hindered enemies and deliver some damaging hits. The main downside to the ability is that it can expand fairly wide as a nova, but as a dome, it cannot reach very far and will mainly only affect enemies in close combat range. Enemies can easily escape if they see either one coming, but it is an uncanny ability that often isn't expected.
Shikkyaku Getsuei (Falling Moon)
Without a doubt, this is the shikai form's most powerful ability. By welling up an insane amount of resonant energy in a striking limb, this ability allows him to project it into an enemy or surface all at once in a huge explosion of force. This attack can completely destroy buildings, cause earthquakes when the ground is struck, or decimate large boulders. It is much more often than not an instant kill when landed; think of it like projecting the force and vibration of an entire earthquake into an object. If a vibration of that magnitude were to be focused in a humanoid skeletal system, it would almost definitely destroy it. This attack does, however extremely damage the striking limb. The most common result is a pulled and overused muscle; the most serious is a serious fracture, rendering the limb useless until it recovers.
Bankai Release
''Bankai! Mugetsu No Yurei!'' (Bankai! Spectre of the Moonless Night!)
In bankai, the gauntlets lose much of their flair and condense into smaller weapons. Unlike most bankai, which causes the weapon to expand with the released power, Mugetsu's Bankai state condenses the power of the release with the weapon, causing it to be more finely focused to Kihashi's physical attributes. In bankai, he gains much more strength and speed than he has normally, much in the manner of Kurosaki Ichigo's Bankai which also compressed itself in the same way.
Bankai Techniques
Getsuei Satsu Sensu (Moon's Murder Style)
An upgraded form of Moon's Murmur Style granted in bankai. This ability once again refers to his ability as a whole to manipulate, amplify, and direct vibrations and resonant energy. This energy, rather than only being able to be projected from the zanpakuto itself, can now be projected from any part of his body that makes contact with the enemy. The vibrations can now be so finely tuned they can be projected at an enemy, so even if an attack missed, the vibration can still rock the opponent's skeletal structure. As a whole, the energy is much more refined, able to strike areas which much more accuracy and power rather than a more broad area. This amplifies the damage quite a bit, as particular areas can now be singled out and demolished.
The defensive quality is still kept, however it is not amplified because in a way, it really can't be.
The projectile that can be fired can now not only be fired as a bala-like blast, but can be broadened and empowered incredibly much akin to a hollow's Gran Rey Cero. This ability can only be used four times per release, but it deals an incredible amount of damage to the opponent's body and skeletal structure should they be hit. It also can't be blocked easily; the vibration itself can hardly be seen, no matter how intense. It rocks the opponent's body so badly it actually stuns them for a brief period after the attack, allowing for an easy follow-up maneuver.
Kujo Chouseki (Tide of Destruction)
A highly amplified version of Rupturing Tide. This ability can now be charged to the point where, upon release, the vibration violently erupts outward with enough force and spiritual pressure to blast opponents into the air, whirling wildly. It can be used to clear a path through enemies, and enemies closer to the blast can also have their bones fractured if they are in the immediate detonation range.
Rosuto In Kurayami (Lost In Darkness)
A new bankai ability. This ability allows Kihashi to a cause a vibration of pitch of such a high frequency in the air the opponent can't even hear it. Then, supplemented with reiatsu, it can be projected at the opponent or projected through a melee strike. The sound's effect only takes place within the head of the opponent. The vibration is so minute and focused it directly disrupts the nervous system, cutting off the sense of hearing and sight and disorienting them. The effect doesn't last for very long, but it leaves the opponent incredibly susceptible to Kihashi's attacks. The victim can still sense spiritual power and pressure, however, granting them some form of knowing what's going on.
Tsuiraku Getsuei (Crashing Moon)
An upgraded version of Falling Moon, which is many times more deadly. The attack now has to power to completely obliterate the enemy's skeletal structure, instantly killing them. It can also completely rupture the landscape it connects with, but this upgraded version also comes with the cost of causing more damage if it misses and an object is struck rather than a person. A more severe and complex fracture is warranted if the attack misses.
Getsuei Haretsu (Moon's Rupture)
Dubbed by Kihashi to be the ultimate assassination technique, this attack creates an extremely focused needle of resonant energy which is injected into the opponent when they are struck with an open palm. The needle will then begin expanding until it reaches the enemy's chest cavity, destroying it, then working its way to the unprotected heart. It then vibrates the heart so violently it forces it to shut down, effectively killing the opponent within the blink of an eye. This attack is extremely short ranged and needs to land dead-center on the chest or it won't work correctly, but will still cause considerable damage.
Kidō
Kidō Techniques
(Kido will be added when he actually gains some.)
Technique Name: Shunko (Flash Cry) Type of Effect: Self-Targeted Drawback: Due to the surge of power and energy, the user's muscles are stressed beyond belief. After use, it takes about a day to recover, and if it is maintained for too long, the user's muscles can degrade themselves to the point of death (the heart is a muscle, too). Description: This is an advanced technique that combines hand to hand combat and kido energy into one deadly combination, explosively increasing a Shinigami's offensive capabilities of speed, agility, strength, and power. Normally, the kido energy could be used to fire at enemies, but due to Kihashi's flawed version (he is a novice in kido) he cannot project any kido energy from his body, and must instead keep it internally. The only reason he can do that much is because he actually knows how to channel kido energy, but not project it. A high-powered kido energy surges through the user's entire body, enhancing the limbs for battle purposes.
It should be noted his version is incomplete, and will need to be further mastered through IC means.
Technique Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps) Type of Effect: Self-Targeted Drawback: Inexperienced users may become winded easily. Description: Flash Steps are the art of using a Shinigami's own speed to move faster than the eye can follow. The higher trained in the art of Shunpo the user is, the least amount of steps they need to reach a destination, and the faster they move. Having undertaken Soi Fon's personal training regiment, Kihashi is extremely proficient in Shunpo, to the point where some members of his division claim him to have inherited the male persona of the deceased Soi Fon's title; the God of Shunpo. Shunpo is very important to Kihashi's fighting arts as he focuses more around the ideals of hand to hand combat than he does combat with a blade, making his agility his only defense most oftenly.
Technique Name: Utsusemi (Cicada) Type of Effect: Self-Targeted Drawback: Continued use taxes the muscles in the user's legs, slowing them down in the long run. Description: Used in conjunction with Flash Steps, this maneuver is best described as a Flash Step within a Flash Step. The user will perform a step right in the middle of ending the first one, resulting in an extreme burst of speed that leaves behind a single after-image. The after-image can even appear to have taken damage, although it won't bleed of course.
