Item Name Shinjamaru (Sacred Snake)
Effect(s)
-Entire right arm becomes armored
-Venom is produced via administering reiatsu into the hollow shoulder plate
-Venom has varying affects, according to amount within the body
-Venom can be sprayed at long range as a tissue-devouring acid
Description
''Koiru, Shinjamaru!'' (Coil, Sacred Snake!). When this phrase is uttered, Shinjamaru will enter its shikai state. Placing his hand on the flat of the blade and pressing the other side of the flat into his forearm, Shinjamaru will shine brightly and mold onto Kihashi's arm. His entire right arm will be covered in thick but light armor, all the way up to the shoulder, and a hollowed-out snake design will wrap all the way around the arm. At the wrist, a single, sharp, double-edged blade will jut out and pass the hand to about the length of another forearm. The hollowed out area does serve some purpose, however. The hollowed out design is actually reinforced from the outside, forming a hollow chamber that transports a deadly venom through the armor and into the blade itself. The blade itself is also hollowed out within, making it very light weight and easy to handle, and also able to inject venom when it pierces or cuts.
Shikai grants Shinjamaru only two abilities. First, by focusing his reiatsu to the armor at his shoulder (which is also in fact hollow) he can create a pool of this venom by reaching a reiatsu resonance with Shinjamaru himself, as in the spirit. The venom will fill up the shoulder pocket slowly, and when it fills, it will begin transporting the venom through the hollowed-out snake design to the blade itself to inject into opponents. As for the venom itself, it has several symptoms. In small doses it causes severe pain to the point of contact, due to irritating the tissue of the individual that had been struck by the venom. In very severe cases, the venom will actually begin to deaden the flesh it struck, turning it necrotic, and killing the tissue at the point where the tissue was damaged if sufficient venom has been implanted there. Through strategic use of this, Shinjamaru is actually capable of removing limbs from opponents with poison alone. The venom is particularly deadly when struck into a vein simply by piercing it, as the blood will carry the venom to the rest of the body through the bloodstream. With enough time, the poison can affect the heart as well. If left in the body for a moderate amount of time, it will also begin to break its way through the brain's defenses and cause problem's with the opponent's nervous system, affecting their coordination and balance, as well as slowing the body's response to electrical signals from the brain.
The second ability is the ability to launch the venom at opponents. When struck with oxygen in the air, the venom reacts violently and turns into a corrosive acid. It won't melt all the way through someone's body, but it will severely burn flesh on contact. It cannot melt through bone, but will eat away at living tissue. The only real way to protect yourself once the acid has hit your body is to cover the afflicted area with a blanket of reiatsu, and letting the acid eat through that instead of the skin any further. Reiatsu will not immediately stop it, though; the victim must remain constantly attentive to the acid.
